This program equips students with the business knowledge, communication skills, ethical and legal understanding, and critical thinking abilities needed to adapt and thrive in a changing global environment.

Through this program, students learn the foundations of business while developing specialized expertise in areas such as international trade law, finance, sales, and marketing.

Graduates of this program are prepared to pursue leadership and professional roles in both the private and public sectors at the provincial, national, and international levels.

Fundamentals of Business
  • This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the world of business and how organizations operate in today’s economy. Students explore different types of businesses, the roles of key business functions such as marketing, finance, and management, and the impact of economic and global forces. Through real-world examples, learners gain an understanding of how businesses start, grow, and compete. The course builds a strong foundation for further studies in business and management.
Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
  • This course introduces the principles of financial accounting and how organizations record and report financial information. Students learn the accounting cycle, including how transactions are recorded and how key financial statements are prepared and interpreted. The course explains how accounting information helps managers, investors, and other stakeholders make informed decisions. By the end of the course, students will understand the essential role of accounting in business operations.
Business Statistics
  • This course focuses on the use of data and statistical methods to support business decision- making. Students learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret data using fundamental statistical tools. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, forecasting, and basic data analysis. The course demonstrates how organizations use statistical information to identify trends, solve problems, and improve performance in a data-driven business environment.
Fundamentals of Management
  • This course examines the principles and practices of effective management in modern organizations. Students explore key management functions including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The course also introduces leadership styles, team dynamics, motivation, and decision-making strategies. Through practical examples and case studies, students gain insight into how managers guide teams and drive organizational success.
Business Communication
  • This course develops the communication skills essential for success in today’s professional environment. Students learn how to prepare clear and effective business messages, including emails, reports, and presentations. The course also emphasizes interpersonal communication, teamwork, and communication in diverse workplaces. By strengthening both written and verbal communication skills, students will be better prepared to interact confidently
International Business
  • This course provides an overview of how companies operate and compete in the global marketplace. Students examine international trade, global business strategies, and the economic, political, and cultural factors that influence international operations. The course explores how organizations expand into global markets and manage cross-border business activities. Students gain an understanding of the opportunities and challenges of conducting business internationally.
International Marketing
  • This course explores the strategies organizations use to market products and services in global markets. Students examine international market research, consumer behavior, branding, pricing, and promotional strategies across different cultures and regions. The course highlights how companies adapt their marketing approaches to meet the needs of diverse international customers and remain competitive in the global economy.
Management Information Systems
  • This course introduces the role of information systems and digital technologies in supporting business operations and decision-making. Students explore how organizations use data, software, and information systems to improve efficiency and strategic planning. Topics include business intelligence, databases, enterprise systems, and information security. The course emphasizes how technology enables organizations to operate effectively in a digital business environment.
3 Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements prior to acceptance:

  • Proof of Grade 12 completion or equivalent, or
  • 19 years of age or older (all applicants), or
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency through one of the options below.

English Language Proficiency Options

Applicants may demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following pathways:

1. Secondary Education in English

Evidence that 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8–12) were successfully completed in English in a country where English is one of the principal languages.

This may include successful completion of a BC Adult Graduation Program.

Applicants must provide transcripts showing completion of Grade 12 English with a minimum grade of “C.”

OR

2. Post-Secondary Education in English

Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction, in a country where English is one of the principal languages.

OR

3. Approved English Language Test Scores

Applicants may provide verified results from one of the following English language proficiency tests.
Test results must be dated no more than two (2) years before the program start date.

Accepted tests and minimum scores:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS – Academic): Overall score 5.5 or higher
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test: Overall score 40 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test: Overall score 95 or higher
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT): Overall score 46 or higher
  • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP):
    • Listening 6
    • Speaking 6
    • Reading 5
    • Writing 5
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic): Overall score 43 or higher
  • International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP): Overall score 3.5 or higher
